ZHU has been on fire since bursting onto the scene in early 2014. After a successful year that saw tracks like “Faded” and “Cocaine Model,” the mysterious producer returned in September with the Genesis Series. So far, the project has included collabs with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Trombone Shorty (“Hold Up, Wait A Minute“), Gallant (“Testarossa Music“), A-Trak and Keznamdi (“As Crazy As It Is“), and AlunaGeorge (“Automatic“).

Another collab, this time with Skrillex, has the potential to be the most popular yet, though. Watch below to see ZHU debut the unreleased track at the recent CRSSD Fest in San Diego, California. The audio quality is poor, but it’s enough to give you an idea of what to expect.

While ZHU has never been known for high-energy tracks, his recent mix for Pete Tong’s “After-Hours” series on BBC Radio 1 is more subdued than usual. The DJ/producer’s 40-minute set is drenched with laid-back grooves, the majority of which are unreleased. From ZHU’s head-nodding remix of Chic’s “I’ll Be There” to his steamy cover of The Weeknd’s “Often,” this mix shows his musicianship and versatility.

ZHU Teases New Music in ‘Cocaine Model’ Video

It’s been nearly a year since we’ve heard new music from ZHU, the mysterious DJ/producer behind last year’s hit, “Faded.” The forward-thinking artist hasn’t disappeared though, and today released a video for “Cocaine Model,” a chilled-out track off his The Nightday EP. Aside from the interesting visuals, the video also contains a short preview of what’s assumed to be new music from ZHU. The track appears at the 4:20-minute mark.

But wait, there’s more — legendary BBC Radio 1 host Pete Tong announced yesterday that ZHU will make his debut on the “After Hours” mix this Friday, May 15. There’s a good chance his set will include unreleased material, possibly even the track teased in the video above.
