In late June, Lil Nas X dropped “Panini,” the follow-up single to his groundbreaking smash, “Old Town Road.” The track is currently No. 22 on Billboard’s Hot 100, making it his second highest-charting single.

Its producers, Take A Daytrip and Dot Da Genius, recently sat down with Genius to break down how the song was made. Take A Daytrip are best known for co-producing Sheck Wes‘ “Mo Bamba,” and Dot Da Genius is best known for working with Kid Cudi.

Old Town Road

Lil Nas X has dropped a star-studded video for his breakout single “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. The hip-hop/country anthem is currently No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, having been on the chart for ten weeks. The track was DJcity’s second most downloaded song of April.

The video, which starts out like a classic Western movie, is packed with cameos throughout. It features Diplo, Vince Staples, D.C. rapper Rico Nasty, and comedian Chris Rock.

Lil Nas X‘s breakout single “Old Town Road” is polarizing, but there’s no denying its impact. Released in December, the hip-hop/country anthem has since become a global hit, thanks in part to an official remix featuring country legend Billy Ray Cyrus. It currently sits atop Billboard’s Hot 100, having been on the chart for nine weeks.
