Guyanese DJ/producer, Furo, has joined forces with Dutch DJ/producer, D’Maduro, to deliver a moombahton rework of Ne-Yo‘s 2008 R&B classic “Miss Independent.” The remix is available exclusively on DJcity.

Ne-Yo won two Grammy awards for “Miss Independent,” and the song peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“I initially came across the record from an Instagram post, and realized it was a classic that I had totally forgotten,” says Furo. “When I listened to the full track I was surprised to hear how many dancehall/Caribbean elements it had. That’s when I decided to spice it up with a more modern style. I contacted my buddy D’Maduro with my initial idea and he finished up the track from there!”

D’Maduro has had an impressive year so far, with six of his remixes appearing on DJcity’s monthly top 50 chart. They include reworks of Aaliyah‘s “Try Again,” Blu Cantrell‘s “Breathe,” and Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ “Can’t Stop.”
