SNL Makes Fun of EDM in New Skit Featuring Lil Jon
Saturday Night Live’s “The Lonely Island” have been making hilarious parody videos about musicians since 2005.
For their latest “Digital Short,” which aired last night on SNL’s season finale, the comedy trio made fun of EDM in a skit titled “When Will The Bass Drop?” featuring Lil Jon. The skit stars a fictitious DJ named “Davvincii” (sound familiar?) who does just about everything on stage except for mix.
While the purpose of the video is to make people laugh, it’s also a jab at “button pushing DJs” and the obsession with “the drop,” both of which are sources of intense debate within and outside the EDM community.
