SFX and Clear Channel have announced a partnership that will place EDM-related programming on Clear Channel’s terrestrial and digital radio stations and in its live venues.
SFX is the largest global producer of live events and digital content focused exclusively on EDM and Clear Channel is the leading media company in America. By combining forces, the partnership could help increase EDM’s popularity in the U.S. which is seen as a market with huge growth potential.
According to SFX’s website, the partnership contains three key initiatives:
– National DJ/Producer contest in partnership with Beatport
– Weekly Beatport Countdown show
– Original live event series
Clear Channel stations airing the Countdown include New York’s Z100, Los Angeles’ KIIS FM, Chicago’s KIIS FM, San Francisco’s WiLD 94.9 and dozens more.
SFX’s Chairman and CEO Robert F.X. Sillerman issued the following statement:
“Partnering with the clear leader in broadcast and digital radio is a key strategic relationship for SFX…The framework we have established with Clear Channel, whose stations include KIIS-FM and Z100, brings the electronic music category to a broader audience and delivers on what we believe the young music consumer wants today. It also allows us to amplify the promotion of DJ/Producers who are the life-blood of our industry.”
John Sykes, Clear Channel’s President of Entertainment Enterprises, said this about the partnership:
“The demand for electronic music continues to increase across all of our platforms at Clear Channel…This strategic partnership with SFX will give our audiences access to a deeper selection of music content and live events.”
