Pharrell Williams Signs with Columbia Records

2013 has been a successful year for singer/songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams and today marks yet another achievement in his career.

Earlier this morning Columbia Records announced that the international superstar has signed with them and is set to release an album in 2014. Pharrell joins an impressive lineup that includes Beyonce, Daft Punk, J. Cole and Adele.

Pharrell’s credits for the year include Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance,” Nelly’s “Get Like Me,” 2 Chainz’s “Feds Watching” and his own single “Happy.”

‘When we excitedly partnered with Pharrell in January of this year, we felt it was his time again,’ says Columbia Records Chairman/CEO Rob Stringer. ‘Since then, ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Get Lucky’ have defined pop music in 2013, and now we are preparing to launch Pharrell as a global solo superstar in 2014. ‘Happy’ is just the beginning.”

The label also confirmed that “Happy” (which is featured on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack), will also be featured on his forthcoming Columbia Records full-length debut.
