Nardwuar went hard at SXSW. The legendary interviewer spoke with a bunch of artists, including Snoop Dogg (his ninth interview with the rapper), Desiigner, Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic. However, one of the standouts was an interview with renowned hip-hop producer, Sonny Digital.

A native of Atlanta, Sonny’s most popular productions include hits like ILoveMakonnen‘s “Tuesday,” 2 Chainz‘s “Birthday Song,” Future‘s “Same Damn Time,” and YC’s “Racks.”

Watch Craze and Jon1st’s Boiler Room Sets

Craze

On Tuesday, the Boiler Room London hosted Craze, a three-time DMC World Champion, and Jon1st, the 2013 DMC Online World Champion. The event, which was their debut on the show, was intended to put a spotlight on the art of turntablism.

Jon1st opened with an hour of drum and bass and glitch-heavy tracks, while Craze dropped an hour of hip-hop and bass music, including his usual critique of modern DJ culture.

Legendary hip-hop producer Just Blaze has been featured on Funkmaster Flex’s “5 Minutes of Funk” segment for Hot 97.

While he’s best known for his productions, Blaze put his DJ skills on display in an extended 12-minute set. The New Jersey native scratched and juggled his way through some of hip-hop’s most classic breakbeats.

“5 Minutes of Funk” is a new series that showcases talented DJs. Previous guests include Scram Jones, DJ Fatfingaz, and Statik Selektah.

The Samples Behind Eazy-E’s ‘Eazy-Duz-It’

Power 106 has released a new episode of Wax Only to honor the 22nd anniversary of Eazy-E‘s death. The episode looks at the samples behind the rapper’s solo debut album, Eazy-Duz-It.

Released in 1988, “Eazy-Duz-It” peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard 200 that year and was certified double platinum in 1992. It re-entered the chart at No. 32 in 2015 following the debut of the N.W.A. biopic film, Straight Outta Compton.

The album, which was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella, features samples from artists like The Temptations, Bootsy Collins, The Bar-Kays, and The Sugarhill Gang.
