New tracks that DJs should know about.
Swedish-born DJ/producer Avicii has broken a record with his debut album, True. The 23-year-old’s album landed at No. 5 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart, selling 50,000 copies in its first week. This is the first time in history that a solo EDM artist’s debut has ranked this high.
Avicii’s True is assisted by his massively popular single, “Wake Me Up!,” featuring American rapper-singer, Aloe Blacc. The track is currently No. 4 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart.
It’s worth noting that 91% of first-week sales for True were downloads. In comparison, 68% of Jack Johnson’s first-week sales for his latest album were from digital sales.
