Los Angeles-based producer Bighead has explained how he made Lil Pump‘s breakout hit “Gucci Gang” on a new episode of Deconstructed. The track is Pump’s highest charting single to date, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard’s Hot 100.
Born in Lancaster, California, Bighead is one of the go-to beatmakers in the hip-hop subgenre called “Soundcloud rap.” He has worked extensively with Lil Peep, Famous Dex, and Smokepurpp and has also produced tracks for Gucci Mane and Yung Pinch. Most of his records are co-produced with his longtime friend Gnealz.
Bighead recalls making the beat at the legendary Record Plant studio while Pump played basketball outside. He then discusses his motivation to make tracks and gives a detailed break down of “Gucci Gang” in FL Studio.
