Watch the Producer of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s ‘Drowning (Water)’ Explain How He Made the Track

Grammy-nominated producer Jahaan Sweet has explained how he made A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s “Drowning (Water)” featuring Kodak Black in a new episode of Genius’ Deconstructed. The track peaked at No. 38 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“Drowning (Water),” which appeared in the March edition of DJcity Trends, is A Boogie’s highest-charting single. It was certified platinum in July and currently has over 100 million streams on Spotify.

In the video, Jahaan recalls how the track came about and breaks it down in Logic Pro. He discusses his chance encounter with A Boogie and says that 18th-century composer Johann Sebastian Bach inspired the beat.

The Los Angeles-based producer is a graduate of the world-renowned music school, Juilliard. He’s best known for his work with Kehlani, though he has also produced tracks for Lana Del Rey and Ty Dolla $ign.

Shortly after unveiling his video for “Questions,” Chris Brown is back with a visual for his guest-filled single “Pills & Automobiles” with Yo Gotti, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Kodak Black. The track was included in this month’s edition of DJcity’s Trends charts.

The highly-choreographed video finds the four rappers partying at a water park.

Rising Florida rapper Kodak Black has shared a video for his single, “Patty Cake.” Filmed at a high school, the visual depicts an animated, young Kodak running for prom king.

“Patty Cake” serves as the latest single from Kodak’s debut album Painting Pictures. It follows his double-platinum hit, “Tunnel Vision.”
