Effective ‘Drop Mixing’ Techniques


 
“Drop mixing” is a common alternative to beat matching, yet many beginners are unfamiliar or confused by the technique. Thankfully, the Beat Refinery DJ school has released a video tutorial that explains how to do it.
 
Watch above as Red Bull Thre3style competitor DJ Trayze demonstrates how to mix tracks with different BPM without ever changing the pitch.

Cashmere Cat and Ariana Grande’s ‘Adore’ Receives Uptempo Remix from Trayze

Trayze has been busy in the studio since competing at the Red Bull Thre3style US Finals and his latest remix is of Cashmere Cat’s “Adore.” The original version of the Ariana Grande-assisted single is laid-back and Trayze’s rework is useful to DJs in need of an uptempo option. Last week, Trayze won the 2015 Red Bull Thre3style Washington, DC Qualifier for the second time in a row. The rising party rocker and turntablist has now shared his application video, which was responsible for sending him to the competition. A portion of the five-minute routine (watch above) was included in Trayze’s full 15-minute performance.
 
Trayze has been featured by DJcity multiple times in recent years. He’s hosted two “Friday Fix” mixes and has appeared in DJcityTV’s “Cutting Room” and “Tone Play” series.
 
He’ll compete in the Thre3style US Finals this April in Phoenix, Arizona.

As the New Year approaches, Washington DC’s Trayze delivers the last “Friday Fix” podcast of 2014. In a special hour-long mix, the Red Bull Thre3style World Finalist works through over 70 of his favorite tracks of the year, including plenty of cutting-edge tunes and creative blends. While the session consists primarily of bass-heavy styles, Trayze said he’ll soon be dropping a separate end-of-the-year mix that’s focused on dance music.

Trayze Spreads Christmas Spirit with New Routine


 
Christmas is coming soon and Washington DC’s Trayze spreads some holiday cheer with his new routine video. The 2014 Red Bull Thre3style finalist, who’s known for top-notch tone play, flips the instrumental of Wiz Khalifa’s “You and Your Friends” into a Santa-approved tune.
 
Trayze’s routine features more than just tone play though, as there’s plenty of scratching sprinkled throughout.
 
His setup includes a pair of Technics 1200 turntables, a Reloop Neon controller, a Rane Sixty-Two mixer and Serato DJ.

Watch DJ Trayze at the 2014 Thre3style World Finals


 
Although DJ Trayze entered this year’s Red Bull Thre3style World Finals as a “Lucky Bastid” wild card, the Washington D.C. native quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the competition.
 
On Thursday, September 4th, Trayze emerged victorious after battling DJ Mario (Bulgaria), DJ Monsta (Latvia), DJ Probass (Ukraine), and DJ Flip (Ireland). Here’s a video of the winning routine which secured him a spot in the grand finals.
