Ariana Grande’s ‘Side to Side’ Receives Moombahton Remix From Salvi and Arpa
Rising Spanish DJ/producers Salvi and Arpa have cooked up a moombahton remix of Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj‘s reggae-pop hit, “Side to Side.”
Hailing from Barcelona, Salvi is best known for producing the Sean Paul-assisted anthem “Trumpets” with fellow Spaniard Sak Noel. The track, which was premiered on DJcity in March, was re-released by Mad Decent after generating substantial buzz.
The original version of “Side to Side” is currently No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, having peaked at No. 4.

Serato Releases Serato DJ 1.9.5
After nearly three weeks of public testing, Serato has released the official version of Serato DJ 1.9.5. The highly anticipated update adds support for Pioneer DJ’s CDJ-2000NXS2 player and DJM-900NXS2 mixer.
Matt Cleland, Serato’s Product Planner, said in the press release:
“This update is huge for working club DJs as it provides support for two pieces of kit that many DJs will encounter on a nightly basis. With the Serato DJ Club Kit license, DJs can now connect directly to the Pioneer DJ DJM-900NXS2 mixer without the need for a separate interface. Two USB connections on this mixer also means changeover is easier than ever. As well as this, the CDJ-2000NXS2 will also control Serato DJ in HID mode via USB connection.”
Also included are a number of minor changes and stability improvements, including memory optimizations for better performance.
Serato DJ 1.9.5 can be downloaded here.
More information about the Serato DJ Club Kit license can be found here.
Pharrell Talks Politics and Music Business on ‘The Breakfast Club’
Pharrell stopped by The Breakfast Club show on Monday to talk about his new film, Hidden Figures. The Grammy-winning producer also spoke about politics and the music industry.
On the current political climate:
“I personally think that women and millennials will essentially be the larger number that ends up saving us in four years … Women have compassion. They think about the world. They birthed the world. The whole entire world came through the conduit of the woman’s body. Women consider that.”
On Trump winning the election:
“This pressure that’s gonna come about is going to make the best art, the best music, the best design, the best fashion. It’s going to be amazing. That’s one of the good things that’ll [come from the election].”
On the challenges of working in the music business:
“It’s not like in football where they actually sit down and have you take a course and [teach you] what to avoid and people to stay away from. They don’t do that in the music industry. This is the most abused industry ever … There’s some really nice and brilliant people that are in the music industry right now, but we need more of those people to be empowered so that they can continue to empower the artists.”

After months of preparation and anticipation, the 2016 Red Bull Thre3style World Finals kicked off in Santiago, Chile on Monday.
To begin the multi-day event, all 24 contestants partook in some good ole fashioned record digging at a local swap meet.
After picking up some heat and touring the city, the DJs made their way to a restaurant called Castillo Forestal, where they determined the order in which they would compete.
The day ended with a party, which featured a live set from Thre3style host, DJ Flipout.
Check out the recap video below and watch the live stream of the first round tonight at 7 p.m. PST on DJcity’s Facebook page. DJcity’s Styles Davis will also be live-tweeting the battle.
