The Samples Behind Kendrick Lamar’s ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’

Kendrick Lamar‘s breakthrough 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d. city is arguably one of the most influential hip-hop albums. To honor its fifth anniversary, Power 106 has examined the album’s samples on its Wax Only series.

good kid, m.A.A.d city, which tells the story of K.Dot’s teenage experiences growing up in Compton, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The album contains production by top hip-hop producers such as Dr. Dre, Just Blaze, Pharrell Williams, Hit-Boy, Scoop DeVille, Jack Splash and T-Minus, among others.

The 12-track project features singles “The Recipe” featuring Dr. Dre, “Swimming Pools (Drank),” “Backseat Freestyle,” “Poetic Justice” featuring Drake, and “B#tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.”

Watch Kris Wu’s ‘Deserve’ Video Feat. Travis Scott

A few days after unleashing his buzzing single “Deserve,” Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu has returned with a video for it. The Travis Scott-assisted track, which hit No. 1 on iTunes U.S. upon its release, is currently No. 14 on DJcity.

Directed by Colin Tilley, the neon-colored visual finds both Wu and Scott rapping on top of a massive monster truck.

Kris Wu is a former member of South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO. Aside from singing and rapping, he is also an active actor in China. Earlier this year, Wu made his debut in the film xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

Watch Chris Brown’s ‘High End’ Video Feat. Future and Young Thug

Chris Brown turns into a zombie in the video for his new single “High End” featuring Future and Young Thug. The track is the latest single off Breezy’s upcoming album Heartbreak on a Full Moon, which is set to arrive on Halloween.

Directed by Spiff TV and Chris himself, the Halloween-themed visual features cameos from Fabolous, Trey Songz, Teyana Taylor, and wrestling stars Rey Mysterio Jr. and Brian Cage.

Watch A$AP Ferg’s ‘Plain Jane’ Video

A$AP Ferg and his mob take over New York City in the video for his single, “Plain Jane.” The track contains interpolations from Three 6 Mafia’s 1999 song “Slob on My Knob,” and appears on Ferg’s Still Striving mixtape.

“The vision for the video was to bring it back to the streets and to be with the people,” Ferg said in a statement. “We shot the video spontaneously without planning which made everything feel more personal and true to me. I wanted the video to match my lifestyle; I could be riding bikes in Harlem or turning up at a party in Brooklyn.”
