Hip-Hop wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the art of sampling. And while producers have increasingly relied on original sound design and live instrumentation in recent years, the practice is still an important part of the culture.
Curious about the history, hip-hop website DJBooth recently asked the folks at WhoSampled which producers have sampled the most in hip-hop. While their database isn’t one hundred percent accurate, it’s considered the most comprehensive on the web and the list they came up with is interesting never-the-less.
