Last week, a young turntablist named DJ Dwells took second place at the 2014 DMC US Finals in New York City — an impressive accomplishment considering he’s only 13 years old.
However, the youngster’s break-out moment came earlier this year in February when he won the New York City Regional. Almost immediately, people in the turntablist community compared Dwells with A-Trak — who also gained fame at a young age when he won the 1997 DMC World Finals.
The hype surrounding Dwells was followed by notable interviews that revealed details about the relatively unknown DJ but still left many wondering what his performance sounded like.
Nearly seven months after winning the regional title, Dwell’s set has finally been uploaded to DMC’s YouTube channel along with those of the other contenders. Watch his full eight-and-a-half minute performance below:
