10 Essential Tracks in the 105 BPM Range

A new style of music has taken root in the mainstream over the past year. The tracks, which are between 100 and 110 BPM, all have the following elements: hip-hop or dancehall drums, tropical house sounds, pop-friendly vocals, and light build ups.
Though it wasn’t the first song to blend those things, most DJs we’ve spoken to credit DJ Snake and AlunaGeorge’s “You Know You Like It” for sparking the trend in the mainstream. The track was first released independently as a remix in 2013, only to be re-released by Interscope a year later after receiving millions of streams.
Within a year, Snake teamed up with Major Lazer for their record-breaking single, “Lean On,” and The Chainsmokers dropped “Roses,” a top 10 song on Billboard’s Hot 100. Then there was Justin Bieber, who’s Skrillex and BloodPop-produced single “Sorry” hit number one on the Hot 100 and went four-times platinum.
