Watch T-Minus Explain How He Produced Drake’s ‘The Motto’ Feat. Lil Wayne
Grammy-nominated producer T-Minus recently broke down how he made Drake and Lil Wayne‘s 2011 smash “The Motto” on Genius’ Deconstructed. The series is a sit-down with producers as they walk through the creation of their hits.
“The Motto” appears on Drizzy’s renowned sophomore album, Take Care. It peaked at No. 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in April of 2012 and finished at No. 1 on Billboard’s year-end Hot Rap Songs of 2012. The track, which has been certified double platinum, helped popularize the acronym “YOLO.”
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, T-Minus is responsible for some of the biggest tracks of the early 2010s. His productions include anthem’s like Ludacris‘ “How Low,” Nicki Minaj‘s “Moment 4 Life,” DJ Khaled‘s “I’m On One,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Swimming Pools,” and Lil Wayne’s “She Will.” After a quiet 2014-2016, T-Minus returned in 2017 producing tracks for Bryson Tiller, PartyNextDoor, Belly, Lecrae, Lana Del Rey, and Drake.
