Rihanna’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ Remixed by Spryte: DJcity Exclusive

(Source: Spryte).

Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Spryte‘s latest exclusive for DJcity is a remix of Rihanna’s 2007 hit “Don’t Stop The Music.” In his remix, the number one global dance single receives a pounding, deep house interpretation.

“For this track, I was messing around with soft synth guitars,” Spryte recalls. “After about a half-hour of playing different melodies on my Ableton Push, I stumbled across the main melody line I use throughout the track. I don’t usually do this, but on this track, I was inspired to work on the beat before I chose a vocal. There were a couple of different options on the table, but I ended up placing Rihanna’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ over the track.”

D’Maduro and DJ Stressy Remix D’Angelo’s ‘Brown Sugar’ and Lucy Pearl’s ‘Don’t Mess With My Man’: DJcity Exclusives

Dutch DJ/producer D’Maduro and Sweden’s DJ Stressy add soulful lounge vibes to two beloved R&B hits. D’Maduro flips D’Angelo‘s 1995 hit “Brown Sugar,” while DJ Stressy flips super-group Lucy Pearl‘s Don’t Mess With My Man.

“Don’t Mess With My Man” has always been a favorite of DJ Stressy’s. Regarding the laid-back vibes of the track, he notes that he “hopes listeners like this one in the car, at the gym or at a bar.” As for D’Maduro, he feels that, in remixing D’Angelo, “the biggest challenge is remixing a classic without losing its essentials. This one deserved a smooth funky/soul makeover with a touch of bounce.”

Rogerson Remixes Major Lazer’s ‘Bam Bam’: DJcity Exclusive

Dutch DJ/producer Rogerson has delivered a remix of Major Lazer‘s “Bam Bam,” featuring French Montana and BEAM. This DJcity exclusive goes into tech-house territory with a pumping bassline.

The original track is from Music Is the Weapon,  Major Lazer’s just-released fourth album. It marks three years since hip-hop hitmaker Montana and the tropical bass trio collaborated on “Leg Over” featuring Mr. Eazi and Ty Dolla $ign. That song received the Nigeria Entertainment Award for “Hottest Single of the Year.”

“I was searching for a song that I could remix, when ‘Bam Bam’ took my eyes, as it was on #1 in the record pool,” Rogerson says. “It already had the Afro-type vibe that I like, but I wanted to combine that with some full tech-house sounds. I had to find the right way to transition between the styles, but I’m very pleased with the result!”

Da Phonk & J Rythm Remix Daddy Yankee’s ‘Tu Principe’: DJcity Exclusive

Dutch DJ/producer Da Phonk and Los Angeles’ J Rythm have given a banging, dembow-driven refresh to Daddy Yankee‘s Zion y Lennox collaboration “Tu Principe.” Upon its release in 2005, the song cracked the top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Latin charts and has remained a Latin club favorite ever since.

Da Phonk notes: “When I heard this classic banger, I knew right away that I could make a pumping 2020 remix! With the special touch of my buddy from LA, we made a remix with heavy build-ups and a banging moombahton drop.” J Rythm continues, “We felt [like] keeping the original vibe but flipping the drop into a moombah kinda style, by chopping up some vocal samples to create lots of energy.”
