Some of our readers might remember DJ Australan from his episode of DJcity TV’s “Bedroom Sessions” last year. With his video currently ranked as the most-viewed of the series, we decided to feature the talented DJ as part of our weekly podcast.
 
Australan’s 34-minute mix brings together three ingredients that we consider essential for a great mix: party rocking, creative selection and skilled turntablism. With all these elements present, it’s safe to say he’s delivered one of the best DJcity Podcasts of the year.

Kygo Drops ‘Tropical House Volume 6’ Mix

2014 has been an outstanding year for Norwegian DJ/producer Kygo. After a series of remixes that received over a million SoundCloud plays a piece, the 23-year-old found himself in a bidding war between all the major labels. In July, Kygo ended up signing with Sony Music/Ultra, and two months later, filled in for an ailing Avicii at TomorrowWorld’s main stage.
 
Kygo’s rise can be attributed to his distinctive brand of “tropical house” — a growing sub-genre characterized by summer-friendly vibes and instruments such as the flute, saxophone, and steel drum.
 
The young Norwegian is more than a talented producer, though. His mix for “Diplo and Friends” in March received high acclaim and his set at Splash House in June was one of the best we saw at the festival. Now, Kygo is back with a new selection of tunes for Thomas Jack’s Tropical House mixtape series. Listen to the hour-long mix below:

Watch MK’s Set for Mixmag Live


 
House legend MK aka Marc Kinchen dropped an excellent set at London’s Village Underground on Saturday. The performance was live streamed by Mixmag and part of it has been uploaded to YouTube (Mixmag says the full set is coming soon).
 
MK has been on fire this past year — thanks to number one remixes of Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through” and Duke Dumont’s “I Got You.”
