Watch the Producer of Drake’s ‘Passionfruit’ Explain How He Made the Track

UK producer Nana Rogues has explained how he made Drake’s hit single “Passionfruit” in a new episode of Genius’ Deconstructed. The track, which peaked at No. 8 on Billboard’s Hot 100, was DJcity’s 7th most-downloaded track of March.

The London native discusses his inspiration for making the beat, his musical background, then breaks down the track in Reason.

Rogues broke onto the scene in 2015 after producing UK rap group Section Boyz’ breakout single, “Trapping Ain’t Dead.” He went on to work extensively with Tinie Tempah, producing his hit single “Girls Like” featuring Swedish singer Zara Larsson. In addition to “Passionfruit,” Rogues also produced Drake’s “Skepta Interlude.” Both songs appear on Drizzy’s album, More Life, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March.
