DJcityTV Assembles Star-Studded Lineup for Toronto ‘Cutting Room’
DJcityTV’s Cutting Room series has featured some impressive lineups over the years, but Toronto’s new episode might take the cake. Representing T-Dot are nine award-winning turntablists, including heavyweights Skratch Bastid, Vekked, and Hedspin, along with Trapment, Dopey, Brandon Duke, DJ Grouch, deejay t-jr., and Needle & Groove.

Watch: Skratch Bastid Performs Routine Using Rane’s SEVENTY-TWO Mixer and TWELVE Controller
Fresh off of hosting DJcity’s “Bastid’s BBQ” at SXSW in March, Skratch Bastid linked up with Serato to cook up a routine using Rane’s new SEVENTY-TWO mixer and TWELVE controller. The devices were released Wednesday in conjunction with Serato DJ Pro’s 2.0.2 update.
After hitting SWSW, Skratch Bastid will be taking “Bastid’s BBQ” to Toronto and Calgary this summer.

Lineup Revealed for Skratch Bastid and DJcity’s BBQ at SXSW

The lineup for Skratch Bastid and DJcity’s “Bastid’s BBQ” at SXSW in Austin, Texas has been revealed.
The event, which will take place on March 16, will consist of two parties: a free cookout during the day at Bungalow (12 to 6 p.m.) and a showcase in the night at Container Bar (7:45 to 12 a.m.). The latter will require a SXSW pass.
The cookout will feature Just Blaze, Skratch Bastid, DJ Juls, Boi Jeanius, Chris Villa, Recloose, Diggy Dutch, DJ Javin, and Abe the Assassin. There will also be a pop-up shop where fans can buy GENRE BNDR, Skratch Bastid, and DJcity merchandise.
The showcase will feature DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Roots’ Stro Elliot, Talib Kweli with DJ Spintelect, Skratch Bastid, Kayper, and Michael “5000” Watts.

Red Bull 3Style Selects Wild Cards for World Finals
Red Bull 3Style has selected Australia’s Beast Mode, Belgium’s DJ Cross, and Barbados’ Jus-Jay as the wild card competitors for the eighth world finals. The competition is set to take place in February 2018 in Krakow, Poland.
Beast Mode, the 2016 Red Bull 3Style Australia champion, returns to the finals after taking third place in last year’s competition. DJ Cross, the 2016 Red Bull 3Style Belgium champion, also seeks redemption while Jus-Jay makes his debut.
The three will join 21 national finalists in Poland, all of whom will be announced on Tuesday on DJcity.

Watch Skratch Bastid Perform a Routine Using N.E.R.D.’s ‘Lemon’ Feat. Rihanna
Skratch Bastid has shared a quick routine using N.E.R.D.‘s new single “Lemon” featuring Rihanna. The track, which was released early this month, is currently No. 3 on DJcity’s Hot Box and No. 65 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
“Lemon” is N.E.R.D.’s first release in seven years. The group’s last album, Nothing, was released in 2010.

Skratch Bastid and Hedspin Throw Down at DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Playlist Retreat
In August, DJ Jazzy Jeff hosted his annual Playlist Retreat gathering at his home in Delaware. The multi-day event featured an eclectic guest list, including J. Cole, DJ Dahi, Mr. Carmack, Lord Finesse, Young Guru, Z-Trip, and Peanut Butter Wolf.
Also in attendance were two of Canada’s finest turntablists: Skratch Bastid and Hedspin. Watch above to see them perform a quick routine at the retreat.
